Jorge Flórez. The Fact
2016
In The Fact exhibition, three-dimensional pieces are remarkable: an exempt sculpture built with superimposed modules is a disturbing presence, reliefs conceived as diptychs and triptychs are beautiful in their simplicity, are made of plywood and coated with polyester and, from their nakedness , we could assimilate them with minimalist and postminimalist tendencies, however, the aseptic nature of those is not here. The artist comments that for the wall pieces he makes previous sketches with wooden planks, hence there are many scraps that he uses as a base to make the monotypes. It is a series of prints inked with synthetic enamel, are architectural imprints, black marks perfectly defined but hardly identifiable, industrial landscapes immersed in an environment of suggestive textures.
If the light is important to extract the nuances of the works, they are to value the space they occupy; The gallery is transformed into an exquisite montage where there is complicity between the artist and the space, finding beauty where we never look.Santiago Martínez
